North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong Orders All U.S. And State Flags To Fly At Half Staff For 25th Anniversary Of 9/11

(KNOX) – North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong has ordered all state government agencies to fly both United States and North Dakota flags at half staff on Friday, September 11. This is to honor the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that happened 25 years ago tomorrow.

The Governor is ordering the flags to be lowered as the country reflects on the 25th anniversary of the attacks in New York City, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania. Armstrong is encouraging North Dakota residents and businesses to lower their flags in order to honor and remember the nearly 3,000 who died that day. He also encourages the flags to be lowered to pay respect to the military members who died during the Global War on Terror that followed the attacks.

Congress has a resolution that recognizes September 11 as both Patriot Day and a National Day of Service and Remembrance across the country.

Americans all over the nation are also being encouraged to have a moment of silence at 7:46 am Central time. The first plane that was used in the attacks crashed into the Twin Towers in lower Manhattan at 8:46 am Eastern time.
