(KNOX/Learfield) – DFL U.S. Senate nominee Peggy Flanagan says she has accepted invitations to participate in two debates with Republican nominee Michele Tafoya before the November election. Flanagan’s campaign says MPR News would host one in St. Paul , and the other would happen in Duluth and be televised through a KBJR-FOX 9 partnership. Dates and broadcast details have not been finalized, and Tafoya has not accepted the invitations yet. Flanagan and Tafoya are competing for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by retiring Senator Tina Smith.
Meanwhile, Flanagan only leads Tafoya by two percent in a recent poll from TIPP/League of American Workers. That poll has Flanagan ahead 44 percent to 42 percent. Tafoya is looking to become the first Republican elected to the U.S. Senate in Minnesota in over 20 years.
