(KNOX) –Grand Forks Red River High School is a winner of T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights $5K Fridays program. The school will be awarded $5,000, and they can use that money to address specific needs.
This is the second straight year that Red River won this competition.
Last year, they were given $6,000 and used it for branding and weight room equipment. This year’s money will also be most likely used for facility upgrades.
Red River is one of three North Dakota high schools that have received the funding, and they could get more.
The Roughriders would get another $25,000 if they are chosen as one of the program’s 40 division finalists.
Red River would receive $250,000, a Gronk Fitness gym worth $90,000 and a $5,000 student leadership award if they were to be named one of four division champions.
The public can vote for the division competition from October 8 through October 25. A person can only vote once a day.
The grand prize winner would get funding for construction on a full field that would be worth $1 million. The grand prize winner will be announced on November 12.
