(KNOX) –The East Grand Forks City Council has approved promoting Paul Hansen to be the city ‘s permanent fire chief. Hansen was an assistant chief for six years, and has been serving as interim fire chief since June. He will receive an yearly salary of roughly $104,000.
With Hansen becoming the new chief, the City Council has approved starting a promotional process for both assistant fire chief and fire engineer positions. The Fire Department will also start advertising to hire a new firefighter.
The East Grand Forks City Council has also approved purchasing new dispatch center radio equipment that the police department will use. The equipment was purchased from Motorola Solutions for roughly $54,000.
