(KNOX/Valley News Live) –The North Dakota Game and Fish Department says there are 3,700 licenses available for the fall turkey season. This is 610 fewer licenses available than the amount that was in 2025.
License numbers in 13 of the 21 hunting units are recommended to be reduced this fall. The remaining units will carry the same number of licenses as last year.
The fall wild turkey season starts on October 10, and it will go through January 3, 2027.
The special flock reduction bow season will also close Jan. 3, 2027 — a change from the previous closing date of Jan. 31. The change mirrors an adjustment to the deer herd reduction season, which will also now close Jan. 3, 2027.
Only North Dakota residents are eligible to apply in the first lottery. Hunters can apply online at gf.nd.gov. The application deadline is Sept. 2.
