35-Year-Old Fargo Man Dies After Fleeing Police

(KNOX/Valley News Live) –A 35-year-old Fargo man died on Saturday after fleeing police during a traffic stop. Damion Proffit crashed into a tree on Dakota Drive. 

Fargo Police tried to stop a known suspended driver for driving under suspension. Proffit was fleeing at a high rate of speed, and officers did not pursue the vehicle.

A Fargo Police officer located the vehicle after it had crashed in the 1500 block of Dakota Drive. The 2013 Chevy Silverado went off a curve, hit a tree and ended up between two apartment buildings.

Debris from the Silverado hit an unoccupied Honda Element parked nearby and it caused extensive damage. Proffit died at the scene from their injuries from the crash. No other injuries were reported.
