(KNOX) –There are new East Grand Forks city employees who have started the job, or who will begin their positions later this month. New Parks and Recreation superintendent Jorgen Erickson started on Monday. Erickson was hired after former superintendent Jeremy King resigned in April. Mayor Mark Olstad also says that Interim Fire Chief Paul Hansen has verbally accepted to take the fire chief position. The council needs to formally approve his hiring he can accept to take the position. Hansen has been the interim fire chief since June, when he took over for Jeff Boushee. Hansen started as interim fire chief a few days before Boushee officially retired.
Council President Brian Larson also says that a new police officer has been hired. Grant Ackerson’s hiring was approved by the City Council after he completed background investigation and licensing requirements. He will start with the East Grand Forks Police Department on August 17.
Meanwhile, The East Grand Forks City Council has approved a resolution that appoints adding more election judges for the August 11 primary election and November 3 general election. They also approved a special event application for the Nick Minske Memorial Run on August 15. That will include a temporary road closure on part of Fourth Street Northwest near Up North Pizza from 5pm-10 pm.
