(KNOX) –Altru Health Systems Grand Forks hospital had an increase in the number of babies born in 2025. This is the case as birth rates across North Dakota increased, even though birth rates in the state have dropped for nearly a decade.
Altru had 1,511 newborns in 2025, which is 7.5% increase compared to the 1,406 in 2024.
There were 9,634 births from July 1, 2023 to July 1, 2024 in North Dakota. From July 1, 2024 to July 1,2025, there was an increase in births to 9,760.
In North Dakota, birth rates have dropped since 2016, when there were roughly 17 births for every 1,000 people. The rate today is nearly 11 for every 1,000 people.
