Grand Forks City Council Votes To Fund Arts Program In 2027 Budget

By Alex Carmenaty Aug 5, 2026 | 8:12 AM

(KNOX) – The Grand Forks City Council voted at Monday’s City Council meeting to put funding for Arts programs back into the city’s 2027 budget.

City Council members voted to include $159,135 in arts funding that Mayor Brandon Bochenski previously recommended be cut. Some Grand Forks residents and a city council member were against Bochenski’s recommendation, and after having conversations with community and city council members, Bochenski agreed to add the arts funding back in.

Bochenski also says the city is in a good financial position, and that helps keep programs like arts in the budget.

A public hearing and final vote for the 2027 budget is scheduled for September 8.
