(KNOX) – South Middle School’s Parent-Teacher Organization is looking to raise $100,000 in order to build two half sized basketball courts and multiple foursquare courts.
The PTO started the project plans last November, and have been accepting donations since last month. Roughly $3,000 have been raised so far.
The nearest public park to the middle school that has outdoor basketball hoops is Optimist Park, which is over a mile away on Cherry Street. The construction of the park would most likely start next July.
South Middle School’s PTO is partnering with the Grand Forks Park District, and they will provide matching funds of up to $25,000. They are also looking to raise money at their open house on Monday, August 24 from 4pm to 6pm.
