(KVRR) — Adam Thielen may not be on an NFL training camp field this summer, but the Detroit Lakes native is getting back on the football field in his hometown.
The former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver will host his annual youth football camp Saturday, Aug. 1, at Mollberg Field at Detroit Lakes High School.
The camp is open to kids entering grades 1 through 8 for the 2026-27 school year, giving young athletes the opportunity to learn from the 12-year NFL veteran and coaches who helped train him throughout his professional career.
“I think the unique thing, especially about Adam’s camps and the camps that we do at the Thielen Foundation, is they’re doing a lot of the drills that Adam did while he was playing,” Thielen Foundation Treasurer Lukas Inveiss said.
Thielen is a part owner of ETS Performance, which has a location in Moorhead. Coaches from the facility will help lead campers through speed and agility drills similar to those Thielen used during his career.
“The coaches from that local gym will be out there running the drills that Adam has actually used for speed training, agility training,” Inveiss said. “So it’s unique in that aspect of they’re actually getting exposure to what he did while he was an All-Pro and Pro Bowl receiver during his career.”
The camp will accommodate up to 400 kids across two sessions, with approximately 200 campers in each. The first session runs from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by the second from noon to 2 p.m.
Along with on-field football instruction, the camp will emphasize character development, leadership and sportsmanship. Participants will be divided into groups based on age and skill level.
Campers will receive a T-shirt, drawstring bag, Thielen Foundation water bottle and hat, along with an autographed Adam Thielen photo or trading card.
In the event of inclement weather, the camp will move indoors to the Molberg Field House across the street.
Proceeds from the camp benefit the Thielen Foundation and its programming aimed at serving, educating and inspiring youth to reach their full potential.
Open spots remain for Saturday’s camp. Registration and additional information are available through the Thielen Foundation website (CLICK HERE)
