(KNOX) –A fire early this morning damaged a home in East Grand Forks. A garage fire spread from a nearby home caused moderate damage to the house on the 400 block of Fifth Avenue NE.
The East Grand Forks Fire Department arrived on scene at around 5:30 a.m. and found a detached garage fully engulfed in flames. The roof of the structure also collapsed.
The fire spread into the attic of the neighboring home, and firefighters confirmed that no one was inside the residence at the time.
Crews used multiple hose lines to put out the fire. The fire was contained within 15 minutes of firefighters arriving on scene and it fully put out within 45 minutes.
Some neighboring homes also sustained minor heat damage to their siding.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
