Dozens of Fireworks-Related Incidents Reported in Fargo over 4th of July Holiday Weekend

(KNOX) -The Fargo Police and Fire Departments in responded to dozens of fireworks-related calls over the 4th of July holiday weekend. 

West Fargo Police responded to 33 calls, and West Fargo Fire responded to three.

A total 144 calls were reported in Fargo, and 11 of them were handled by Fargo Fire. 

Meanwhile, Sanford Health says they saw an increase in fireworks related injuries this year.

Sanford Health’s Lead Media Relations Specialist Nathan Aamodt says that he doesn’t have specific numbers, but thinks it is safe to say there is an “increase in firework related injuries this year.”

Essentia Health in Fargo saw three firework related injuries this Fourth of July weekend, when the emergency department had two patients come in with eye injuries and another person with a hand injury.

The person with the hand injury need to be admitted and all three patients were under 18-years-old.
