(KNOX) – The University of North Dakota’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences is a few percentage points away from reaching its ND 85 goal.
“North Dakota 85” is a UND initiative that seeks to increase the number of North Dakotans in the med school’s doctor of medicine and physician assistant programs. The end goal is for North Dakota residents to make up 85 percent of the students in those programs. Both the MD and PA Programs are currently 82 percent.
The program was created in response to legislators asking why there aren’t more North Dakota students at the school. It was also made to increase the med school’s class size. Before the ND85 program, about 50 to 60 percent of these students were from North Dakota.
