(KNOX) – Pembina County Sherriff’s Office Chief Deputy Cory Mortensen is staying in his position. Mortensen won Tuesday’s election when he defeated former Chief Deputy Marcus Ramsay.

Mortensen, who replaced Ramsay after his termination from the department in January, won Tuesday’s election with 944 votes (58.6%) compared to Ramsay’s 659 votes (40.9%), according to unofficial election results.

Sheriff Terry Meidinger accused Ramsay of wage theft, as he would allegedly showing up late, leaving early and taking extended breaks during times he reported to be working.

According to his personnel file, which was obtained by the Herald, Ramsay is accused of stealing nearly $2,000 between August and December. The file also referenced allegations of sharing nude photos of a woman around the office and making false statements about a coworker.
