(KNOX) – Rebecca Osowski appears to have retained her position on the Grand Forks City Council in one of tightest races of the night.
Osowski earned 241 votes, besting Ryan King’s 239. The total is likely close enough for a recount.
Angela Salentiny won election to the council with 496 votes, besting Harry Samuelson’s 324 in the Ward 4 race.
Tony Hodny advanced in the race for the county commission seat he was appointed to for an unexpired two-year term. Hodny captured 2,125 votes. Mitch McCoy will advance to challenge him.
In the Grand Forks School Board race, Lori Kraemer was the top vote-getter, with 3,140 votes. JoNell Bakke was second with 3057 votes. Brianna Hall, Allyse Dunnigan and Mary Adams will also win positions on the board, as five seats were up for grabs.
Connie Osowski upset Dustin McNally in the District 42 legislative race for a spot in the House of Representatives. Osowski picked up 214 votes to McNally’s 197. McNally had been appointed to fill the term of Emily O’Brien, who resigned the seat when she moved from the district.
Eric Murphy lost his seat in the North Dakota House in a primary challenge. Murphy finished third to Jill Chandler and Mike Holmes, who will both advance to the general election in November.
In the statewide races, Julie Fedorchak regularly commanded over 70% of the vote over her challenger Alex Balazs for the Republican nod for Congress. Sherri Haugen-Hoffert and Jill Kringstad had leads for spots on the Public Service Commission, and Measure 1, which limits constitutional measures to one issue, had around 67% support.
