(NewsDakota.com) – VALLEY CITY, N.D. — An investigation into the theft of property stolen inside two electrical substations is underway in Barnes County.

Sheriff Randy McClaflin said on May 4th and on May 14th deputies responded to the 2300 block of 108th Avenue near Rogers, ND and the 12100 block of 35th Street SE near Valley City regarding a theft of property report. He said these thefts occurred inside substations owned by power companies. It is believed a person or persons used forced entry of these substations by damaging the fencing located around the substations, they then removed ground cable. This ground cable is smaller in diameter and varying lengths were cut and removed from the site.

Sheriff McClaflin would like to remind anyone who is thinking of committing thefts inside power substations that this is a dangerous act and may result in death.

Anyone with information regarding these thefts or if you know the person or persons responsible contact the Barnes County Sheriff’s Office at 701-845-8530.
