Valley Middle School Demolition Nears Completion

(KNOX) – Demolition of the old Valley Middle School site is in the home stretch. School officials say construction crews should be done with the bulk of the work by the end of next week.

Business Manager Brandon Baumbach says razing the old school and hauling the debris away cost the district $549,000 dollars. The money comes out of the $79 million dollar referendum passed by voters in 2023.

After all the material is removed restoration work will begin. That includes the addition of a football field…soccer field…and two softball diamonds.

The Park District was originally going to own the parcel that includes the ball fields but the school district will retain control of the land. The change was tied to additional land swaps near South Middle and Lake Agassiz. The Park District will still program the Valley Middle School diamonds.
