(KNOX) – Nelson County is one of three additional counties to sign up for help with 911 services.

Nelson, Eddy, and Sioux Counties have asked the State Emergency Communications Center to handle their individual county’s 911 traffic.

North Dakota requires the SECC to help with 911 call traffic and dispatching duties for counties with a population of less than 25,000.  Twenty-nine counties are now utilizing the SECC for 911 traffic.

The system is designed to help with counties that cannot handle the financial burden of 911 services.
