(KNOX) – A Grand Forks man has applied to trademark the former nickname for the University of North Dakota.
According to documents from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Tyler Wilson filed the application for the “Fighting Sioux” nickname.
Wilson’s application covers apparel, including jerseys, shirts, jackets, sweaters, and hats.
UND says it strongly disputes the trademark claim and is working to resolve the issue with Wilson.
