(KNOX) -The Grand Forks County Commission is looking at a three percent tax increase for the 2026 budget.
Commissioners are considering using some cash in reserves to be in line with a new state law that caps tax increases at three percent.
A vote by the Grand Forks County Commission on the first round of a budget is expected at the commission’s next meeting Tuesday August 5th.
Grand Forks County has calculated that they will have over $14 million by the end of 2025. The county’s 2026 budget is $55.9 million, about $5 million less than this year’s budget of $61 million.
