(KNOX) -At around 12:30 PM on Sunday, the Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched to Allwood Court for a report of smoke in a home.
Fire crews arrived on scene to find active flames on the first floor and smoke throughout the residence.
The fire was quickly extinguished with moderate fire damage isolated to the kitchen. The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. The occupants of the residence were displaced overnight and are being assisted by family.
The Grand Forks Fire Department responded with five engines, one truck, one command vehicle, and 18 personnel.
There were no injuries to the occupants or fire service personnel.
The Fire Department was assisted by Altru Ambulance and the Grand Forks Police Department.
The Grand Forks Fire Department would like to remind residents to keep anything that can catch fire; oven mitts, utensils, food packages, and towels off and away from your stove top.
