Update on wire fraud case at Mark Sanford Education Center

By Jim Johnson Jan 14, 2025 | 3:39 PM

(KNOX) – A little more of the $2.2 million taken by wire fraud from Grand Forks Public Schools has been recovered.
Grand Forks Deputy Chief Brett Johnson talked with investigators who say about 62 percent of the money has been recovered… but Johnson says the chances of recovering all of the money is very slim.
The Mark Sanford Education Center filed a complaint in September for $2,239,665.59. No data from Grand Forks Public Schools was exposed during the wire fraud.
Johnson told KNOX that there is no person of interest at the point. The investigation is open and continuing.
