(KNOX) – On Friday November 1st, at approximately 7:42 a.m. officers of the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to 420 Division Avenue on a report of a male victim that had been stabbed.
Upon arrival Officers located a 37-year old male victim on the 5th floor who had apparent injuries on his body.
The male was transported by ambulance to Altru ER. The investigation at this point appears that an argument occurred between at least two individuals which resulted in the above listed victim being stabbed. A suspect was identified by witnesses on scene.
During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that a construction vehicle that was parked near the Northlands Rescue Mission was stolen.
Unrelated to the initial call, employees were outside working on the intersection when their work truck was stolen.
The stolen vehicle was a 2017 Dodge Ram 3500 pick up owned by NorthStar Safety, Inc. out of West Fargo.
This vehicle was equipped with a GPS tracking system and an employee was able to use this to locate the vehicle. The GPS showed the vehicle traveling northbound on North Washington Street approaching Bacon Rd.
Deputies from the Grand Forks Sheriff’s Office were in the area and located the vehicle. A traffic stop was attempted and the suspect accelerated and continued northbound without stopping.
Deputies along with the North Dakota Highway Patrol pursued the vehicle and a tire deflation device was deployed in Grand Forks County which resulted in one of the vehicles back tires deflating.
The suspect vehicle however continued traveling and was headed towards Walsh County. Deputies with the Walsh County Sheriff’s Office were contacted and responded to assist.
The suspect vehicle traveled into Walsh County and at ND Hwy 18S and 65th St. tire deflation devices were deployed again this time resulting in the two front tires of the vehicle deflating.
The stolen vehicle continued traveling and then crashed at the junction of ND Hwy. 18S and ND Hwy 17. The suspect vehicle came to a stop in a field and got stuck. Officers gave the driver of the vehicle commands to exit the vehicle and he complied and was taken into custody without further incident.
Nobody was injured in the pursuit and no other vehicles besides the stolen vehicle sustained damage.
The driver of the vehicle and suspect in the stabbing has been identified as Moses G. Ayom, 44, with unknown address. Ayom was transported back to and confined at the Grand Forks County Correctional Center.
The Grand Forks Sheriff’s Office has charged Moses Ayom with:
1. Fleeing in a motor vehicle
2. Reckless Endangerment
3. Reckless Driving.
The Walsh County Sheriff’s Office currently has no charges against Ayom.
The Grand Forks Police Department currently has charged Moses G. Ayom with Motor Vehicle Theft.
The investigation into the stabbing is currently on-going and that information is being forwarded to the Grand Forks County States Attorneys Office for their consideration of Attempted Murder and Aggravated Assault.
This incident was been resolved and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
