(KNOX) – The Community Foundation of Grand Forks, East Grand Forks & Region will be changing its name to the Northern Red River Community Foundation as of January 1, 2027. The Community Foundation says this new name better reflects the communities it serves and connections it has created.
The Community Foundation started in 1998, one year after the flood of 1997. The Foundation’s Board of Directors voted in 2025 to see whether the organization’s name continued to reflect its partnerships and future direction. The goal was to not change the name, but to see if it still represented the Foundation’s mission.
Fund holders, donors, grantees, nonprofit partners, professional advisors, and other stakeholders will be getting more information about the transition in the near future.
