(KNOX) – A 61-year-old homeless man is facing a felony weapons charge for leaving a handgun at a bar in Jamestown last Thursday.

The Jamestown Police Department says that Milton Stoppleworth was arrested on the suspicion of having a firearm while prohibited, which is a Class C felony.

Police were sent to the bar after an employee said they found a gun and other personal belongings that had been left behind.

An investigation reportedly discovered that officers were able to identify the person who left his property at the bar as Stoppleworth, and he is legally prevented from having any firearms because of a previous criminal conviction.

Stoppleworth was seen walking near the 200 block of Seventh Street Southeast and he was arrested without incident. He is being held at the Stutsman County Corrections facility and is waiting to face formal charges.
