High Plains Fair Housing Center In Grand Forks Receives $425,000 Grant It Was Waiting Months To Receive From HUD

(KNOX) – The High Plains Fair Housing Center in Grand Forks has received a $425,000 grant it had been waiting months to get from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The grant was supposed to come in May, as part of the third year of funding from a Fair Housing Initiatives Program agreement that started in 2023. The Housing Center laid off three of its eight staff members because of how much of a delay there was to get the funding.

U.S. Sen. John Hoeven worked with HUD in order for the grant to be provided. He also helped pass legislation to resolve a loan issue that was outstanding for nearly a decade. This legislation helps the Grand Forks Housing Authority make improvements to a 66 unit affordable housing project called LaGrave Place.
