(KNOX) –East Grand Forks Parks and Recreation superintendent Jorgen Erickson gave an update at Tuesday’s City Council meeting about the improvement projects at both the VFW Memorial Arena and Civic Center.
Erickson says ice is starting to be built in the Civic Center, and activities there are scheduled to start up again October 19th. He also says that the contractors will continue working past the 19th.
Progress has also been made on the compressor room at the VFW Memorial Arena, as painting the exterior and interior of the building has started. The Arena’s parking lot is scheduled to be paved next week and also be ready by the 19th. City Administrator Reid Huttunen.
The project that will fix the arena’s sanitary sewer line is expected to start soon and last three weeks. The road between the outdoor rink and the soccer fields will be closed while that project is happening.
The East Grand Forks City Council also has approved owner requested change orders to improvement projects at both the Civic Center and VFW Memorial Arena. The change orders at the Civic Center are for a sanitary line replacement, a front lobby window replacement and a lobby concourse switch relocation that will cost $49,053. The change orders at the VFW Memorial Arena for an additional low voltage conduit, miscellaneous parking lot and additional watermain replacement work that will cost $30,621. The City Council’s approval also includes a sanitary main line slope correction that will cost $213,634 and it will come from the sanitary fund.
