(KNOX) – Altru Health System has announced that Dr. Jeremy Gardner will become its new Chief Medical Officer starting on October 19.
A press release says that Dr. Gardner “will provide physician leadership across Altru in this role. He will be working with medical staff and organizational leaders to support high-quality, patient-centered care and advance Altru’s mission of making a difference for the communities it serves.”
Dr. Gardner has worked with Altru for over 16 years. He has worked as an orthopedic surgeon and has recently been the medical director of orthopedics and neurosciences.
Dr. Gardner says that he is “honored to serve as Altru’s Chief Medical Officer and grateful for the opportunity to lead
the talented physicians and advanced practice providers who care for our patients every day. I have seen firsthand the difference our team makes for patients and families throughout our region. I look forward to working alongside our providers and team as we continue to provide excellent care, support our teams and meet the changing needs of our communities.”
Dr. Gardner earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
He is also certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery.
Dr. Gardner will continue to be an orthopedic surgeon while also being the new Chief Medical Officer.
