East Grand Forks City Council Approves Several Motions At Tuesday’s Meeting

(KNOX) –The East Grand Forks City Council has approved extending the Residential Property Tax Abatement Program for another three years after holding a public hearing. The program will now run through December 31st, 2029.

The East Grand Forks City Council also approved renting a motor grader for $7,200 a month from RDO Equipment for the 2026-2027 snow season. They have also approved a rate of $65 per hour when using the motor grader for more than 250 seasonal hours.

The East Grand Forks City Council has approved promoting Tanner Petterson from fire engineer to assistant fire chief. Petterson will receive a rate of $45.43 per hour. Nick Derrick has been promoted from firefighter to fire engineer, where he will receive a rate of $34.74 per hour.

The East Grand Forks City Council has also approved a 2027 preliminary tax levy for roughly $8.3 million. The public budget meeting is scheduled for December 1st.
