Three People Including Child, Suffer Life Threatening Injuries In Three Vehicle Crash In Walsh County

(KNOX/Valley News Live) –Three people, including a child suffered life-threatening injuries in a three vehicle crash on Interstate 29 in Walsh County.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the crash happened on Monday night after 9:00 10 miles east of Grafton near mile marker 175. 

The patrol says that a 2024 GMC Sierra rear-ended a 2018 Toyota Yaris in the right lane. The Yaris was eventually forced into the left lane and was hit by a 2017 Toyota Highlander.

A 55-year-old Winnipeg man driving the Yaris and two juvenile passengers were taken to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.

One child  was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo with life-threatening injuries. The other child had a seat belt on.

Troopers say a 50 year-old Bathgate man driving the Sierra and a 22-year-old Winnipeg woman driving the Highlander, along with three passengers were not injured.

Northbound I-29 was closed for about an hour and a half. The crash remains under investigation.
