Fall Ice Time At Blue Line Club Arena Will Start Later Than Scheduled

(KNOX) –Fall ice time at Blue Line Club Arena in East Grand Forks will start later than scheduled because the cooling brine pump failed in the arena’s ice plant.

City Administrator Reid Huttunen says fall ice time was set to open next Tuesday, and that repairs will be made within the next few weeks.

Huttunen also explains that the Parks and Recreation Staff discovered the issue last week.

The Blue Line Club and Northern Lights Figure Skating Club were supposed to rent ice time for a month starting next Tuesday and Wednesday.  The Blue Line Club’s facility was going to use the ice from September 8th through October 4th for $12,000. The figure skating club was going to rent ice time from September 9th to October 10th for $5,380.

The council approved changes that now have both agreements starting on September 21, with prorated rates.  The Blue Line Club will pay $6,000 and the figure skating club will pay $2,900.

The Blue Line Club Arena only has one cooling pump, compared to the two cooling pumps at both in the Civic Center and VFW Memorial Arena
