(KNOX) – Minnesota climatologists say this summer is being considered the sixth hottest in 153 years of recordkeeping.

There has been a statewide drought, with nearly 80 percent of Minnesota in at least moderate drought conditions.

Polk, Norman and Clay Counties are considered to be in an extreme drought. The Red River Valley as a whole is also in an extreme drought, and it has been the driest summer in the region since the Dust Bowl of the 1930s.
