(KNOX) –East Grand Forks City Administrator Reid Huttunen told the City Council on Tuesday about adding a request for grant writing services from Widseth Engineering. This would be part of an application to receive funding from the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s Local Road Improvement Program. East Grand Forks is eligible to receive $1.5 million in state funds for possible improvements on 3rd Avenue Northeast and the U.S. Highway 2 frontage road that will go from 3rd Avenue Northeast to 10th Street Northeast. Huttenun explains what needs to be a part of the application process.
Applications for the program must be submitted by November 25th, and it would cost $5,000 to hire Widseth for grant writing.
Meanwhile, East Grand Forks Parks and Recreation Superintendent Jorgen Erickson told the City Council Tuesday about both the East Grand Forks Blue Line and Northern Lights Figure Skating Clubs renting ice time at the Blue Line Club Arena. The rental rate for the Blue Line Club from September 8th to October 4th would be for $12,000. The rate for the Northern Lights Figure Skating Club from September 9th to October 10th is $5,380. He explains why these figures are different than last year’s.
The rate is consistent, and it changed in this instance because of how long they are renting out the arena.
