Manufactured Homes To Stay On I-29 Until Friday

(KNOX) –North Dakota Highway Patrol Lieutenant Ryan Panasuk says three manufactured homes will most likely be stuck on I-29 South in Grand Forks until midday on Friday. They are unable to cross the overpass at DeMers Avenue.

Trucks were hauling the homes on Tuesday and they got stuck that day at 10:45am. They are unable to fit through construction on the overpass because of an 11 foot width restriction. The trucks are hauling an oversized load that is 16 feet wide.

The homes are currently in the closed right lane and shoulder. They have been taken off from the trucks, and are not interfering with traffic.

The Department of Transportation says that leaving the homes on I-29 is currently the safest option. If they were to be backed out to Gateway Drive, either the entire section of the interstate or only the southbound lane might be closed.

Vehicles that carry oversized loads should get permits that specify the route they end up taking. A permit violation means that a driver violates state law, where they could receive a citation with a $100 fine.
