(Valley News Live) – Minnesota State Patrol troopers made more than a thousand traffic stops in the Detroit Lakes area during WE Fest.
The country music festival was held Wednesday, Aug. 5 through Saturday, Aug. 5.
Troopers issued 254 citations and 1,118 warnings during the enforcement period. Ten drivers were arrested for DWI, 17 people were cited for minor consumption or possession, and 19 drivers were stopped for driving after suspension, revocation, or cancellation. Six additional arrests were made on other charges.
Warning breakdown
Of the 1,118 warnings issued, troopers recorded the following contact types:
- Speed: 322
- Equipment violations: 468
- Use of a wireless device: 53
- Seat belt: 97
- Child restraint: 6
- Other violations: 383
No injury crashes reported
The State Patrol reported no crashes involving injuries or anything more serious during the festival period. The agency noted that a number of motorists used designated drivers and ride-sharing options to travel to and from their destinations.
