(KNOX) –UND football players David Neuberger and Jy Martin were at practice Monday as they look to receive a fifth season of eligibility. Both players were seniors last year.
They are both leaning on a ruling in Colorado last month. U.S. District Judge Charlotte Sweeney ruled that athletes who used all of their eligibility from 2022 to 2025 are eligible to play for a fifth season in 2026-2027 academic year.
The NCAA is appealing the ruling.
Meanwhile, Former UND Men’s Basketball player Treysen Eaglestaff is also trying to get a fifth year of eligibility through the same ruling. Eaglestaff transferred to West Virginia last year, and played there last season. He is now planning to enter the transfer portal again.
The NCAA did clarify that the ruling did not affect Division I transfer rules. They are apparently saying that athletes who were not originally in the transfer portal can’t play for their previous school and they must follow the standard transfer portal process.
Eaglestaff recently played for the New York Knicks in the NBA Summer League after playing at West Virginia. He played in the summer league after he went undrafted in the 2026 NBA Draft.
