(KNOX) –The Dak Minn Blood Bank is having an emergency blood drive at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks today. This comes as there is a nationwide blood shortage. All blood types will be accepted and donors do not need an appointment or to register beforehand.
The blood drive is happening from 12 noon to 3pm in the Active Learning Rooms.
Blood suppliers say they are dealing with low supplies in their own regions.
Dak Minn Blood Bank is specifically wanting Type O positive donations because that blood type has a serious shortage. All blood donations will be used for patients with emergency situations, as well as surgeries, cancer treatment and for patients who have serious medical conditions.
