(KNOX) -The East Grand Forks City Council discussed during their weekly meeting on Tuesday about possibly closing off part of Fourth Street Northwest on Saturday, August 15.
Part of the street would be closed off for a concert that would be happening after the Nick Minske Memorial Run. City Administrator Reid Huttunen says the portion of Fourth Street that would be closed is run by the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The concert would be held close to Up North Pizza so the restaurant’s liquor license can be used. Huttunen also says that if the event wanted to be in a place where a street closure wouldn’t be needed, event organizers would need a nonprofit organization to be the host.
Police Chief Mike Hedlund says a Shriner’s parade will be held during the morning of the same day as the event. He says some barricades will already be set up and that they could be moved back for the concert.
There is expected to be $844 in city service costs for setting up road barricades and fencing, renting a mobile stage, and to have a police officer work during the street concert.
