(KNOX) – The inaugural Katarina’s Sunshine Ride will be held tomorrow morning. It’s in honor of 6-year-old Katarina Louthain. She was a young girl from the Grand Forks Air Force Base who was killed by a drunk driver in 2024
The event will be a 100-mile motorcycle, car and pickup ride that will go through North Dakota. The goal is to raise awareness about drunk driving, as well as raise money for three programs that are going to be in her honor.
The programs will provide free tuition for kids at Red River Valley Athletics, as well as help low income families get access to free laundry. Free haircuts will also be provided to those who are staying at The Mission in Grand Forks.
Registration for the ride begins at 9am at Turtle River State Park in Arvilla, which is roughly seven miles east of Grand Forks Air Force Base. The ride will start and end at the park and it will leave at 10:30 a.m. It costs $20 per person.
