(KNOX/Valley News Live) –The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded more than $3.6 million in grants to two North Dakota programs. The grants are intended for biomedical research, as well as to strengthen the state’s ability to detect and respond to public health threats.
The $3,673,217 in funding will be split between the University of North Dakota and the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services. The University of North Dakota will receive $2.1 million for research and workforce training through the Translational Science Engaging North Dakota (TRANSCEND) initiative.
The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services will receive $1.5 million through the CDC’s Epidemiology and Laboratory Capacity for Prevention and Control program.
This is a five-year project that will focus on biomedical research and workforce development, with an emphasis on local healthcare applications.
