(KNOX) –East Grand Forks Fire Department Fire Chief Jeff Boushee is retiring after 34 years, Boushee has been the fire chief since 2020, and his last day was Thursday.
He worked as a machinist in town before he became a firefighter. He started as an on-call firefighter in 1992, and then served as a full-time firefighter from 1997 to 1999. He was an engineer from 1999 to 2010, and was an assistant fire chief for 10 years before becoming chief.
Assistant Chief Paul Hansen has been serving as interim fire chief since Monday, and a permanent replacement has not yet been hired.
