(KNOX/KFGO) –The Barnes County Sheriff’s Office says a 91 year old man had to be rescued after driving a vehicle into a pond Thursday morning.
The sheriff’s office says they received a report of a vehicle near the intersection of Barnes County roads 22 and 3. While searching for the vehicle, they received a call from the man’s sister in law saying he was in a slough or lake.
Deputies say he drove north on county road three without headlights and he drove on the wrong side of the road. They later found tire tracks that went off the road and into a field. The vehicle was half submerged in a pond half a mile from the road.
The man was responsive in the vehicle. He was taken to Mercy hospital in Valley City to be checked for injuries.
