(KNOX) – An apartment complex fire in Grand Forks has displaced residents at the Grandview II. The Grand Forks Fire Department responded to a report of heavy smoke last Friday at around 4:30 p.m. at 1950 S. 34th St. The fire department says there was a fire that was confined to a kitchen unit where it was quickly extinguished. There was also significant heat and smoke damage to the structure. No injuries were reported.
Fire crews ventilated the building, and the property was released back to the management company. The Grand Forks Fire Department had four engines, one truck, one rescue apparatus, one command vehicle, and 17 personnel on scene. The Grand Forks Police Department and Altru Ambulance also assisted fire crews. The Grand Forks Fire Department wants to remind residents to keep all combustible materials away from heat sources and to never leave cooking unattended.
