(KNOX) – East Grand Forks is discussing the future of building inspection in the city.
The city’s contract with TrueCheck LLC is up for renewal, but not all on the council are convinced that a long-term contract renewal is the right direction for the city.
East Grand Forks paid TrueCheck just under $73,000, a fee that councilmember Dale Helms thought may be better used toward the city hiring it’s own inspectors.
Mayor Mark Olstad and council member Tim Riopelle favor a short-term renewal with TrueCheck that would end as fees from the company are set to increase.
