(KNOX) – A portion of the furloughed employees at UND’s Energy and Environmental Research Center are returning to work.
Federal contracts are being executed, allowing grant funding to begin flowing to the EERC, a vital part of the organization’s funding. That funding had bee held up, forcing the furloughs.
A May 22nd agreement will bring $25 million to EERC over five years, and an agreement in early May added another $36 million. One of the projects will involve improving oil extraction from shale formations, like the Bakken Formation in North Dakota.
