(KNOX) – It wasn’t your typical roundup along I-94 near Valley City on Thursday afternoon.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a truck hauling bees rolled temporarily blocking the westbound right side lane. As a result of the crash millions of bees were released.
Beekeepers were brought in to recover and contain the insects. During the recovery process the NDHP urged motorists to slow down and give crews and the bees plenty of space.
As a result of the accident Valley City police issued a statement urging anyone in the southwest part of the city that is allergic to bee stings to please shelter in place until the situation was cleared.
There was no mention if the driver was injured.
