(KNOX) – With the North Dakota Badlands in the background state and local leaders gathered in Medora on Wednesday to unveil the full schedule of events for the grand opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library.

Governor Kelly Armstrong says the July 4th event is a moment that will bring people across the country to the place that shaped a president.
Armstrong also reaffirmed his executive order directing agencies to prepare personnel and resources to support America 250 events across the state.

Tourism remains one of North Dakota’s largest industries. In 2024 visitors spent $3.4 billion and made 26.3 million trips to the state. The industry employs more than 46,000 people and supports over 3,000 businesses.

The opening of the $450 million dollar Library includes a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:27 a.m.   A street festival and concerts will take place during the day. That evening a light show featuring 1,776 drones will help tell Roosevelt’s life story.

This is North Dakota Travel and Tourism Week.
