(KNOX) – A date is set for the official groundbreaking on the Agristo potato processing plant in Grand Forks. Mayor Brandon Bochenski informed the council that the event is scheduled for July 7th.
The Belgium-based company announced plans to build north of Grand Forks in January of 2025. In June the city council and other taxing entities approved a 20-year, 90% Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) incentive package to secure the deal.
The project is expected to create around 300 local jobs. The company expects to start with processing around 250,000 tons of product during the initial year of operation.
