(KNOX) – The Grand Forks Police Department conducted alcohol compliance checks with the assistance of area youths on October 22nd. A total of 12 businesses were checked; out of the 12 checked, 9 businesses passed and 3 failed.
The businesses that passed were Paradiso, The Office, Red Ray Lanes, Hugo’s 32nd, Eagle’s Crest, Harry’s Steakhouse, Cookies’ Lounge, Hub, and The Loft.
The business that did not pass were the Ramada, Hugo’s Downtown, and Fuji.
The Grand Forks Police Department conducts several compliance checks each year.
The Grand Forks Police Department uses youth from the community who are under 21 years of age. The compliance checks are conducted by having a youth enter an alcohol establishment, under the supervision of a police officer and in accordance with a city ordinance.
The underage youth will attempt to purchase alcohol and will in no way attempt to conceal their age. They provide their actual ID and if asked they say their actual age. If a sale is refused, the business passes the check. If a sale is completed, it is observed by the officer and appropriate enforcement action is taken.
